hey guys!
planning ahead for once and thinking of saving and heading out for 3 or so months next june until sept. Have been looking at Australia mainly because it's winter so i expect it will be less crowded, am from the uk so not bothered about temperature as long as it's no colder than here!!!

is the west any good? the charts look epic for it this time of year but not heard alot good about it?if not where would you advise for someone looking to get good, consistent, not too crowded waves. I am an intermediate or so level shortboarder (can do a few ok turns etc, don't mind reefs and points) mainly i am female so would prefer somewhere reasonably safe-ish!

or how does anyone rate working and living in costa rica this time of year? am i likely to get work?

cheers folks!!

Hey there, why not go to the US? You know it's safe there and your money worth a lot more. Well a lot safer than other places in Asia and beside they speak English :D So you know you can get around easily. If you think California is pricey, go to Texas. I think you can surf around Padre Island (anyone please feel free to correct me if not). Good luck!

I think california is a good idea too.....you can do it pretty cheap, car rental ,camp, cheap hotels......bonus, california has 350 skateparks and most are free!!!

Lovely as australia is in winter, Ive no idea why you'd aim here if you had 3 months to spare. The water is warm, but the air temp is quite cool, and the days are short.

Yes, the breaks are quite quiet (with the exception of the city breaks), but they'll be pretty quiet in the middle of summer too - there's a lot of coastline for a relatively small number of people :D

So for a june-sept trip - I'd be going somewhere in the northern hemisphere to make the most of summer, or around the tropics.

Or wait til sept, THEN come to Oz for three months. 8)
