I'll be in Oahu this September and I'm looking for some coaching/lessons. One on one is ideal. I'll be based in Waikiki (without a car) but looking to try some less crowded spots. I've surfed a number of times but I'm still only really one step up from complete beginner. Do the 'Beach Boys' at Waikiki teach anything other than complete beginner lessons? Any other recommendations? Thanks.

the beach boys?? yeah, theyll teach you not to come around waikiki anymore! when i was 13 one of those 50 year old beach boys smahed my friends mouth in with his board, because hes haole, knocking 2 of his front teeth out of place, hes lucky they didnt fall out.

you really don't need one to one lessons.... there's only so much you can learn in a lesson, the rest is practice...
if you've had a few lessons and can stand and turn, you're on your way!

most of my "lessons" after a couple of beginner lessons came from mates who watched me surf...
the advantage of this is that they surf with me all the time and know what i do right or wrong most of the time.
save your money and just get out there and do it... use your cash to buy a board or something.
