Hi I am interested in finding a place abroad that meets the following criteria

1.will have a very good chance of beginner/early intermediate level surf in mid/late September

2. can get there and stay there for about a week on a budget of £350 per person (ish cheaper the better)

3. will hopefully have some sun (not essential hence its at number 3)

4. will have somewhere to rent a board from for my stay (don’t want the airline buggering my new board up…that’s my job)

I was looking at the south of France , but because you cant fly there from my local airports there’s more cost.

I checked Humberside and Robin Hood and the following are available:
Alicante (Spain)
Madeira
Malta Tenerife (Canary Islands
Alicante,
Crete (Heraklion),
Ibiza, ,
Malaga,
Menorca,
Palma,
Portugal (Faro), ,
Turkey (Bodrum),
Costa Del Sol (Malaga),
Cyprus (Paphos),
Menorca,
Rhodes,
Turkey (Bodrum), Turkey (Dalaman)
Tenerife (South),
Tunisia

Santa Domingo (Dominican Republic)

Anyone had any experiences? Anywhere else I have missed?

Do any airports around you fly to Lanzarote? I pop over there every once in a while when i get fed up with the cold over here and it's pretty cheap and has something for every level of surfer.

I was there 2 weeks ago and it only cost me £300 for 1 week which included flights accommodation and car hire. The accommodation was really good and only 20 minutes drive to any break on the island.

Why leave in september when the uk has its warmest waters and there's a good chance of the first of the coming seasons swells arriving?

For that price you aint gong that far.

If there is a hurricane season (first one, well more of a tropical storm, may be headed ths way as early as a couple of weeeks time) this year Uk's your best bet (at least you may get some shelter options from a few peeps)

Other than that the Algarve or the bit of Spain at the bottom forget its name.

hehe, Lanzarote was such a good idea that thats where I went to take my first lessons........ would deffo go back but ya know...wanted to see if there was somewhere else with resonable surf i could get to on a budget.

the UK idea sounds like it may well be a good option.
For what i would be paying to go , i could just stop working for a lot longer and get out to the beach near me every day!! might actually end up a better bet for the surf.

now if i can just convince the other half that she dosnt need that top up tan!!
