france and portugal or costa rica in september?

Postby smurf_87 » Tue Jun 24, 2008 2:03 pm

hey guys and gals! looking for anyone's opinion!
i am a shortboarder doing a few weak turns from the uk and am looking to go away in september for two or three weeks. The dilemma is that where ever i go the most important thing is i want to get intensive coaching and take my surfing up a few notches! not really that bothered too much about being paradise but warm would be good. I'm thinkind along the lines of either portugal for a week getting a few tips in a surf camp then moving up to kevin olsens place in hossegor for two weeks till the end of sept.
Or heading to costa rica for two weeks, maybe at jim hogans place, but looks less likely he'll have space.
The latter is more expensive but can anyone suggest which they think would be more benficial to improving my surfing?
cheers !! :D

3 months central america will be your best bet....warm cheap and GOOOOD........but if time and money are an issue, stay close and surf west euro...

the deal is...... training or not, europe or costa or your dumpy home break, you will improve by getting wet. Go out as often as possible, even when it is bad. If you are lucky enough to score some good waves, and warm water then great. No amount of instruction will replace time in.

good luck, Keep the stoke

Tough choice, both places are great, so it probably comes down to money and where you fancy.

France in September is usually awesome. Only been to Costa Rica in April, but that rocked too.
