I'm planning to take a holiday in the summer but wondering where to go?
How busy does newquay get in the summer holidays? Can you actually get a surf without running over kooks/kids or being dropped in on?
Does croyde/woolacombe get busy aswell?
And finally what are the chances or there being something rideable if your there for a week?

Cheers

1. Like you wouldnt believe. Newquay has very little to do with surfing in the summer.

2. No. At least not on the town beaches. A couple of miles in either direction and you'll be able to find somewhere merely 'crowded'.

3. Stunningly so. The advantage of saunton or woolacombe is that a five minute walk along the beach and you'll be away from the crowds (nearly).

4. In mid-summer? 50/50.

If you're up for a surfing holiday... travel a bit further, and visit australia... The surf's been rather large lately, and not particularly crowded over our winter (water's still 19C).

Hell yeah !! The waves right now are great. I'm off to the UK for a visit in July .I did think for 2 secs I might go and catch a wave in the UK , then I looked at the water temp and the quality of the water ....brrrrrr far to cold
