This is my first post in the community, looks like lots of good info here!

I'm from the US and picked up surfing again recently while vacationing in Cape Town, SA. This summer I'm planning on living abroad in Western Europe for a couple months so I'd love to know what people would recommend for a surfing novice who's looking for a cool, rustic town, under 100,000 people, that has nice beaches and nice waves. So far I've looked at Porto and Ericeira in Portugal. The Andalusian region of Spain seems cool, too.

Thanks!

The best place for you to Surf easy fun waves is definetely Baleal ! Its a very small Surfing village surrounded by miles of beach breaks ! you can acess at least 5 good surf spots within a walking distance... every day, at least one of these Surf spots will work with good conditions...

Baleal beach is just 90 Km away from Lisboa airport ! I manage a surf house right at the entrance of Baleal, so if you want more informations, feel free to contact me anytime !

Aloha !
Joao Gaucho.

Thanks Joao! Are there fun things to do at night (or on weekends) in Baleal? I'm bringing my girlfriend too (who doesn't surf) so I want to make sure she has fun ;)

Yeah,

There is a couple of beach restaurants and a couple of Beach bars around Baleal... the city of Peniche which lies just 2 miles ahead has also nice restaurants with great fresh fish & sea food !

If you want, I can write down the best places for you...

Cheers !
