Surfing Waves

Just wonderin if the mediterranean can get enough swell to give southern france some surf? Goin there this summer for about 6 weeks and hopefully want to get some surfin in if at all possible. Thanks

sorry to disappoint mate but it is very unlikely there will be any swell and if there is it won't be ground swell. I've heard of people surfing in Italy on the west coast (not much though.) If you're there for six weeks though its not that hard to get over to the atlantic coast which is excellent for surf.

southern france gets some brilliant surf, although summer isn't the best time for surf, there should be some decent surf in 6 weeks of holiday there. water should also be warm (ish) as the sun is usually blazing in this area in the summer time

the Med DOES get 'waves' but they are very slack and proper inconsistent... your best bet is to keep and eye for tight low pressures passing across the central med. Otherwise a East wind over a 2days or more will wip up a few waves also.

but seriously if your there for 6 weeks. get a car or something and head to the west coast. that's where its at.

Thanks for the help. After double checkin I think I am going to be in Britanny province of France which looks to be on the west coast. Lets hope!

britanny defintly gets waves not as gud as the south west but pretty much like cornwall

Check out Quiberon when you're there, it's savage and beautifull, also good waves!

Mediterranean sucks man! they do get some swell rarely, but it's not good, you got the cantabric sea on the other side, really nice waves, check out my answer on the post of "Best surfcamp in... California / France / Portugal / ??" i recommend some cheap places to stay at..
