Surfing in the Philippines, best beginner waves?

Postby echkouna » Sat Jan 26, 2008 3:09 pm

Hey guys!
I want to surf in the Philippines. Do you know are there any good beginner beaches? I'm especially interested in the island Mindora, is there any surf? I can stand up, but wouldn't want too big waves though.. Thanks!

Hi echkouna, there are waves for beginners in nearly all surf spots in the Philippines. Hate to break it to you but there are no waves in Mindoro. It's protected by the other islands so waves will definitely not be breaking there.

Try looking up La Union, Zambales, Baler, Samar, and my homebreak, Siargao.

Hi, thanks a lot for this info! Do you know is there any surf in Palawan? And also do you need to take malaria pills there and would it be ok to go there in October-December...? Thank you!

No surf in Palawan and you don't need to take malaria pills. There is surf year round and if you're going in October-December, I suggest Baler or Siargao.

Try Siargao -- G1 and Jacking Horse are good waves for beginners.
