Can anyone give me advice about good surf schools in Lanzarote?
Are these surf camps worth doing? or is it better to just hire a lesson or 2 when I get there?

There are loads of surf schools in Lanza, I've never been on one myself but use google to find them.
The only benefit I see to going to a camp is if you are going on your own or can't drive. The beginners breaks are on the opposite side of the island to the main resort towns and as far as I'm aware the camps are where the breaks are.
What I always do is stay in the resort and hire a car. It only takes 30 minutes or so to drive but this way you can enjoy all the cheesy nightlife as well.
Cool

Thanks...I'll hunt more
As some one who listens to hardcore punk I am dreading the idea of those crappy clubs and bars and Man Utd tops...but it seems like an easy and cheapish option.

Oh don't get me wrong I hate it too, but it's great knowing you are leaving all the crowds who wander a couple hundred yards to the main beach and heading to the other side to surf some great waves.
I'd like to be able to tell you that there are some good pubs and clubs in Puerto del Carmen........but I've never found them!! Loads of free drinks off season thought!
I've always fancied staying in Arrecife as it seems like it could be quite cool, but you don't get the really cheap package deals there.
