Hi everyone,

Can anyone help with this please? Im thinking of taking a surfing vacation to Famara in October. Can anyone tell me how long it takes to get to Puerto Del Carmen in a cab? Looking at Google Earth i can see its on the other side of the island which gives me a rough idea but if anyone has actually done it i'd appreciate the info. Price would also be handy to know.

Thanks everyone,

Stevieboy.

I think it takes one to two hours.

Are there no buses?

If you're staying with a school will they not pick you up at the airport? It's Arrecife you fly into.

Is this just so you can go on the lash one night?
Sleep on the beach or just make sure you pull!

Hi Real Pol,

I read one of your replies to another thread and decided that you have the better idea....to stay in Puerto Del Carmen (or closeby) and hire a car.
We stay in the touristy bit (Puerto Del Carmen) and hire a car. This means we can hang out at all the touristy bars n' clubs and dance with the type of cheap-loose women who frequent such places, then drive to the beaches on the other side of the island to surf.

Made me laugh :-) Well you gotta have some of that on holiday eh?

Cheers mate.

I think it's the best idea.

The village by famara beach has 2 surf shops and 3-4 tavernas, which sounds way more than it seems.

Peurto del Carmen has loads of bars, clubs, places to eat and we found 4 mini golf courses!

Arrecife seems quite cool, a small city which isn't touristy. It also has a water park on it's outskirts, once you're bored here it's fun to see how quickly you get thrown out by going donw the slides in the banded positions!
:D
