I went out tiday but to a spot that is always a lite version of what’s going on at the main, more open breaks. Was still head high on sets but definitely muted.

That day I was on the McCoy 6’3” astron zot with a 4a fin. Fat chunky cruiser that still has enough ricker tonwork in waves with good shape. Good times.

:!: :!: :!:
If I'd had 50 guesses, that wouldn't have been one of 'em.
Mindbending shape, especially the nose rocker. Certainly speaks highly of it on the site: https://www.mccoysurfboards.com/surfboa ... n-zot-info

Keen to find a suitable 7'4-7'8 shape to plug a 4a into. Really miss that cruise, speed, flex, etc.

Yeah, that really is a fun fun board that works in our waves here. Weird looking but really goes well. I wish it was painted like those boards on your link; they look siiick!

Ha, up until your board I'd only ever seen them in those colours. I just thought all McCoy boards looked sick
Thanks again for sharing that eh, always wonder how those go (especially in Indo) after hearing others swear by nugget.

I had a bigger nugget. Had glassed fins and was more like a pivoty mini mal at 6’10” (either that or 7’, can’t remember). Got rid if it because it was too heavy and too big; was like a ship. This smaller size seems to fit me better. BTW, that nugget was solid yellow; might have kept it if it had a better paint job! LOL

Ha, I've gotten bright yellow boards in the past, my philosophy being: 1) ugly colours might work as an anti-theft device (they don't lol) and 2) It'll be easier to see when it comes flying at my head
Interesting, I'd always thought the nugget looked like a boat, but heard people swear they weren't. Pivoty mini mal maybe isn't the worst thing for myself. I've been looking for a Bali shaper/shop that'll do a 7'6 or 7'8 single so I can run a 4a. Any recs?

Ha, you did! I just felt really validated reading that
Thanks a lot, I really appreciate that! I'll look into JA. Think I remembering reading about him and the Gemini ages ago:

Hope you get out again on the astron zot with the upcoming swell!
