Right hand barrels this time of year, swell over 2m and it’s on.

I’m posting only becoz it’s far from a secret spot. Would be like saying padang2 fires hard. You definitely won’t be alone on a good day. ;)

Good call

bro, why go there for that lol.. i suppose the complete bali experience.

we see that there is a foot and mouth disease outbreak.. could be a travel ban for Australia.. we go through australia on our flights.. pmo if they get canceled.. if it does we might go to the pacific islands. Fiji or Samoa.. but tbh I'm pretty keen to go see that side of life..

see how this all unfolds in time

"...if it sounds too good to be true, it is the introduction to a scam."

If you don't mind Jaffa, I plan on using this phrase more as it perfectly captures how that all works

This has been an informative and honestly a joy to read thread.
Let us know how your trip goes One!

jaffa1949 wrote:Yes better, Bali will shock you delight you, remember Bali is largely a Hindu population, Lombok is much more Muslim, everything is easy going if you are respectful, there are scams of all sorts, if it sounds too good to be true, it is the introduction to a scam .
A good skill to learn is to bargain down to a fair price and have fun doing it, it is a social way of life there, convert rupiah to to NZed dollars and you will have a true idea of what you are paying.
Currently 10,000 rupiah equals about NZ dollar 1.08, be aware. that brand name surf shops are pretty close to standard world prices as are shops in major hotels.
Check out some shops in Kuta Bali, I currently don’t know any as it has been a while.
A useful guide if you can buy the book , Indo Surf and Lingo by the late Peter Neely, has some phrases to use what to look out for, vouchers, surf spots and heaps of valuable stuff!
I am a veteran of Indo but this still helps lots!

Depending on traffic its a a couple hours more or less from me in the Bukit up the west coast. Not far from Medewi as well. Dont surf there during or after a rain; a rivermouth break with lots if juveniles there who get confused when the water gets murky after a downpour; only break in Bali where its an issue.

Nope, not a guide. Can offer friendly advice here but thats the extent.

Most guides will know where and when to go; id recommend choosing an older one. Younger ones will snake all the best waves for themselves. Makes me laugh when I see the faces if their guests when they tell them to wait then paddle themselves for a set wave.

No idea about sumbawa, never been.

Canggu has a good right, theres one at Airports too. Nusa Dua has a couple few that are ok niw, especially for a dawn patrol before the winds are up. Really most rights start firing on the east coast around November including Keramas.

Nusa Lembongan has rights and lefts with all reefs, but will interrupt your trip plans as it require a day trip ferry ride . Fun though!
how much time are you spill in getting to Lombok or Sumbawa….. plane trip and then cross country from airport!

The Nusa Dua. Sanur side of Bali has the early morning rights as Geezer suggests and we are not the same guy, I now live in Austria!

Lombok look, Indo is a land of mostly lefts rights are rarer

Depending on the airline, paying a special "fee" might help with that.
If it is an Indo airline, they or even the bloody pilot will likely ask for it anyway

I see that some people pay more for luggage than the fares.. I figure must be better to rock up and try to pay for trip at the counter with luggage.. that might be the go so I know if its cost effective

theres some good priced boards over there on the fbook pages.. might take no boards :x :x

js raging bull @ 6'3 might be better than my 6'6 @ 39litres .. see how the fundraising goes in the next few weeks

surfed my custom twinny the other day from local shaper on head high waves.. what a weapon of a board
