The whole area was going off propper after alex went by. I havn't seen a swell like that for a while down here.

What was the worst thing tho... I had to drive to Weymouth the monday it all hit... GUTTED.. I missed the whole thing. now all there is is the crap that the next two have thrown accross. Lumpy crap and to top it of I wasn't really concentrating when I was comming in from CombesG as high tide approched and i had to out my self on the rocks being lazy then i slashed my hands up and lost a fin.
dumpd my gear then went back to get the fin :p

recent floods/pollution

Postby me,myselfandian » Fri Aug 20, 2004 8:09 pm

has the recent weather disrupted woolacombe and the surrounding area at all? Ive heard the flooding has caused sewage overflow to affect beaches down the coast.

Whats the forecast for next weekend done there? :?:

The whole sewage overflow thing happens everywhere more often than you think... I'm glad its finally made national news and it will be interesting when I do my dissertation on how this sort of thing affects the surfing community and their surfing habits...

As for the effect its had on Woolacombe... I have yet to encounter it in my years surfing there in all weathers. Its croyde that still suffers dispite the new treatment works.

Woolacome - where has all the clear water gone ?

Postby Surfmaster » Mon Oct 11, 2004 2:08 pm

I'll tell you about Woolacome.
I spent a wonderful holiday there back when I was 12 - 1975. I remember sitting on top of the cliff watching the locals rip on their lightning bolt pintails and being spellbound.

The most amazing thing was that the water was clean and sparkling. You could see the sandy bottom at 2 meters.

Since 1980's or thereabouts...something changed. I have never seen those clear water waves at Woolacombe since. I have to travel south of Newquay to see them.

What happened anyone ? Woolacombe seems now forever brown.
