Where's the best long board wave?

Postby tnnoserider » Thu Sep 13, 2007 6:43 pm

Hey everyone,

I am land locked at the moment, but I am interested in relocating.
My priority to relocate is surfing.

So, I am looking for the best long board wave in the world, can anyone help me?

Peace

Are we talking about the United States, or anywhere in the world:?:

Well, for my money, you can't beat Hawaii for the big waves. If you're looking for something more intermediary, I dig Southern California which within driving distance of Baja.

Worldwide, I hear the Canary Islands are good. Also, Mexico has some happening places (tu' hablas espanol?) I have a buddy who is from South Africa and he swears there's no place better. Except my other buddy is from Surfer's Paradise in Australia and he can rip it.

Helpful?

You know, Surfer's Paradise has the word "paradise" right in the title. You can't beat that 8)

depends really on your budget and willingness to travel; as mentioned Oz is pretty good but for the best waves- mexico, dunedin on the south island of New zealand, as mentioned hawaii and Taihiti of the lot except for Oz and Hawaii they were all where the top three waves were caught for the billabong awards . hope it helps

I would tell you but then I would have to compete with you for waves.

Southern California has some great long boarding waves. It is expensive to live here but worth it in my opinion.

I'm working there for the next 2 1/2 months :D

Not sure if it would qualify as the best longnoarding waves in the world though, it can be pretty heavy.

Check out these photos of Dunedin - awesome - http://www.pbase.com/phoam/root

There's good waves everywhere, you need to check them all out.....top places for me would have to be Ireland, NZ, Costa Rica, nice long points with no crowds, or for good beachies with clean waves and nice sandbars and some sun - West Coast of France.

South Africa guaranteed. Waves just break forever and there is always a wave somewhere.

Depends where you are - gets real cold in the deep South - 6 degrees in winter, up to about 17 at the top of the island in the Summer.

Australia... Noosa.
Longboard capital of OZ. Noosa has a pretty long RH point break.
Awsome lifestyle up in the Sunshine coast. Loads of nearby beaches like Coolum and Sunshine. Maroochydore. Good business oportunities.
Its where most middle aged guys on the Esat coast would like to retire and settle into the lifestyle more than the profession..

If you are moving from Tennessee and need a relatively inexpensive place to live with lots of good people and a consistent long board wave Wrightsville beach N.C. is the place to be.
I live in Myrtle Beach S.C. and travel 2 hrs to Wrightsville beach to catch some epic longboard waves.
In addition you have the Outerbanks in your backyard, and during hurricane season goes off like Jersey during a noreaster!
The whole community revolves around surfing.
Check it out!
