Yeah, see, thats where the plan went wrong

Ive only ever surfed there one weekend and it was BIG. Clean out back, but miles of white water to get through first. And having absolutely no local knowledge it was a case of pile in and paddle!

So, yes, slaughtered is about right!

But Im the first to admit that ignorance was a big part of it!

If you go to llangennith, go off the point called worms head! Just watch out for the sharp jagged rocks! Always a good laugh to negotiate them in a big swell!

yeah the guys who got rescued by the helicopter the other week thought it was a good laugh too, as did the 2 who drowned there last year, and the 2 who drowned the year before that.

My sense of humor is questionable, I heard about all those incidents including one about a group of hikers who walked over to worms head but got cut off by the tide and tried to swim back  and 2 of them didn't make it :?

well, depends where your going really and what your surfings like, if you like reefs, beach breaks and what time of year your coming. winter breaks throughout really, with enough sheltered spots aswell as open spots for not so windy or offshore days. i usually surf porthcawl area, although sometimes travel the well worth it, extra miles to the gower, where the surf is better. Caswell bay is good for beginners, Langland bay is good aswell as Llangennith. Closer to Cardiff is Llantwit (reef), Southerndown (kinda lowsy), Coney (good sheltered spot), Rest bay can have good waves.
