MOROCCO SURF TRIP

Postby wootzy » Thu Dec 21, 2006 1:56 pm

Hi Guys.

I have been in morocco for the past couple of months staying in a small fishing village called imessourne (Between Agadir and essouria). The surf here is consistantly amazing and is one of the few places that holds a good swell when the other surf spots are too small. like this week for instance. It is flat just about everywhere else but on tidal push here we still get a solid 4-5 foot on the harbour point. I strongly reccomend anybody who is coming to Morocco to head here and check this place out.

I am going to be living here indefineatly to help my friend to run his surf shop and guest house. If you do decide to come here ask for Luke (me) or Naja and we will be happy to sort you out with accomodation etc. Our place is quite literally right next to the beach and the apartments have great views of la pointe caterdral. Caterdral is without a doubt my favourite spot in morocco. The wave peels for what seems like forever and it has both smoothe and fast sections. The other point here is the right next to the harbour which is as equally as long and fun as caterdral.

At night time imsourne can be quite quiet so we try our best to party hard and liven the place up a bit after a long days surfing. Each night we play music, eat a huge tagine or cous cous dish, smoke or/and drink and generally have a great time.

Finding Imsourne is simple. If you are driving take the road from Agadir to essouria or vice versa and you will see that the "pladge imsourne" is sign posted. If you are travelling by bus or taxi from agadir or essouria ask for imsourne (pronounced IMSWARN) and thats where you will be dropped off.

We Look forward to seeing you.

Luke

Sounds good dude, couple of questions though.

Do you do board hire and tuition there?
Do you have a website?

Do you have any prices? How do people get there from the airport?

surfboards for sale???

Postby plowingwaves » Tue Feb 06, 2007 2:13 am

Hi,
Heading to morocco and leaving boards behind to avoid the hassle of flying and travelling with them (first time travelling without boards, I'll surely feel like I'm missing something). Any suggestions on where to go in or around Essaouira to find a good board (6'4"-6'8")? Any suggestions greatly appreciated as swell should be arriving and I'd like to get on a board as quickly as possible. Thanks, Travis

Mate take boards , you will have alot more hassels finding any good boards to rent anywhere in morocco. They have a small amount of rentals boards there because surfers who go there with boards have to leave with boards as its there countries rules. I would strongly advise taking them. If not look for surfcamps online they usually have boards to rent. You also need a car to get around as surf breaks are long and to get between them its not easy , surf camps do all for you meals transport and meeting other travellers is a bonus to.

Goodluck , its a great place to go so much to see and do.
