airline surfboard charges

Just wondering if anyone out there has used EVA Air for any surf trips. Planning on using them for a flight from Hong Kong to New Zealand and bringing an 8ft board "coffin" in tow. Do you know what they charge? How careful are they? Can't get any useful info from their website and no straight anwers from the customer svc reps on the phone. Thanks.
