SUrfing near Orlando

Postby jethrodog » Mon Oct 30, 2006 12:26 am

Question for all and any Floridians out there.

My mother-in-law has decided that she wants to take all her kids and their spouses to Orlando to go to DisneyWorld for the Christmas break. As I am not much of a tourist trap kinda guy, after about 1.5 days in the park I will be going crazy. I am thinking that I will rent a car and go surf for some of the days. What are the nearest surfspots to Orlando, how far are they, are they consistent, etc. I am planning on emailing some surfshops but I think that I get better info from you guys here.
ANy info would be great and appreciated.
Thanks.

I just came back from there on a buisness trip. You have Coco Beach which is about a 45 minute easy drive. This is where Kelly Slater is from. It is not great surf at least in compared to what I am acustomed to, but it will do. You have miles of break so you will not be sharing waves. It does tend to be a bit choppy at least it is that way everytime I go.
