Free Surf Spot Map

Postby breakwatcher » Thu Jul 27, 2006 3:21 pm

Check it out. I understand this site isn't a means to advertise your own site. I do think this is a useful tool though. This is basically a giant map of the world with surf spots and reports all over it. You can become a reporter and send reports from your cell phone while you're at the beach. Check it out, give me some feedback.

For anyone who hasn't checked this yet. I've received a lot of negative feedback from many other forums. I took all the surf spots off so as not to attract more people to our most popular breaks. Can I get any feedback on what else could be better? Thanks.

Personally I don't see the point, wannasurf does the job already even if it is flooded with some fakes but thats part of the fun going back into finding spots...

I must've been too, as there are no surf spots on the south coast of the UK, and it doesnt understand 'Croyde'....

If Im plugged into the matrix, can I have a program where the south coast waves are more consistent and Im a better surfer?

Yeah, wannasurf does an OK job. But they don't cover all spots.

One particular local example is North Haven. Who would have thought they'd get good surf so deep in the gulf?

But thats one of the good things... that it or any other don't cover all spots....Your asking for trouble if you start listing everyhting under the sun.

For sure!

Another nice thing is how people think they DO cover everything :)

When swell is cranking I surf a spot 5 minutes walk down the road... All alone in the water! All the other spots are crowded out.

Secrets still exist. Like the cover of Surfing Mag Aug 06 says - Age Of Discovery!
