Surfing in South Africa

Postby ronbasset » Fri Jun 30, 2006 5:32 am

I am going to South Africa in October, can someone give me some tips on where to surf? I am from California, wondering how it compares to our beaches.

Thanks for your time.

yep jeffereys bay is one of the worlds most consistant breaks the surf doesnt get very big but its just perfect. For a bigger surf head down to north beach in durban.

Crowd galore though lol oh and dont walk barefooted on the grass devil thorns OUCH!

Make sure you surf in a shark free zone. Seriously down in SA they got the zambezi(sp) highest number of shark attacks world wide.

While your in SA visit a plavce called umshlunga rocks (i think thats the right sp) For beauty that will knock your socks off.
