You need to pack it in a good thick padded bag, atleast 10mm and would have to carefully wrap the board and each fin in bubblewrap when putting it into the bag. Thats the only way you can do it really - just wrap it up as best as you can

With hope!
No you need to get yourself a foam block, expanded polystyrene will do. Needs to be if poss the depth of your fins. Then cut slots in the foam to take your fins and then tape it to your board with gaffa tape. The more sturdy the foam the better. Note better to use just one block to do all three fins!

make sure you mark on the board bag top load only last thing you want is to get there and find some dumb baggage handler stuck it ar the bottom and you find it crushed

Actually ye that would be the best idea for protecting the fins, good advice KS. Just do that and wrap the board up well - all you have to do then is pray it comes out the other end ok

its always best to do write that on the bag , if the bag doesn't already have it printed on. However do you really think the luggage people care? i thinkn they just throw the baggage on and not care what it is

You could also spring for one of the hard cases...it's a lot more money though.
