I lived in Savanna for awhile and hated it. I spent most of my free time out on Tybee Island surfing, one of my favorite places to surf. Check out a couple of spots there...Sugar Shack is my favorite. Lots of sand sharks but they never bother you...they just freak you out but you get use to them. The more you go down the island the tougher surfing gets, current/wind but it's all still good. No locals problems...everyone is always cool. Never really crowded because there is nothing out there, It's not a heavy traffic area, one road in/one road out, so there isn't too many people.
Sometimes we would go to Jekyll Island down near Brunswick. It's alittle bit of a haul. They had a cool waterpark there and we would surf the north side of the island. You need a wind from the NE though because all it's sand bars and the waves have to over come the bars. Nobody was ever out there...kind of the same as Tybee, one road in/one road out.
