Hi lesax, welcome to Surfing Waves.

I have only flown once with Taca, a flight from Lima (Peru) to Quito (Ecuador). I have to say that they were excellent - totally professional. I picked them because they were really the only airline that I could find for a cheap internal South American flight, but was pleasantly suprised with just how good they were. My board flew free and was in perfect condition on arrival.
Heaps of good waves in South & Central America - you should have an epic trip.

So - anyone else out there had experience of Taca ?? Let's give lesax as much info as possible.

This is a little late but for anyone interested in flying anywhere and you don't know what airline to use, always use an airline that has a good reputaion (something you may see flying into your local airports) or that is associated with that airline, like a connection carrier. When you want to fly in the U.S. the best is a Delta, American, North West, ect airlines and their connection carriers. If I were to go to Mexico or South America American or Continental are good or Aeromexico, Taca, Mexicana. When you go to Africa go with South African Airlines. Another tip is to go online and get the incident reports of different airlines if you are not familiar with them. One more thing you could do is find a few websites for comsumer reports and find out what they said. You can call the airline as far as pricing of oversized luggage. I know a little about airlines due to my job. If you guys ever need advice on anything airline related let me know.

Taca

Postby Machucado » Wed Apr 28, 2004 8:25 pm

I am from Costa Rica and use Taca constantly to travel home from the U.S.
They always seem to have the cheapest rate versus any other major carrier. I have been charged before for a board but is not expensive, $25 for the round trip (keep your receipt). You can also beg for them not to charge which works on occasion depending on the experience of the person at the counter.
The service on-board is fine but their flights seem to be always full.

Ticket refund

Postby Think again » Thu Jun 17, 2004 3:36 am

I flew TACA a year ago. Lost my ticket in Honduras, and had to pay full fair to get home, even though they had me in their system and know full well I was telling the truth. It's been HELL trying to get them to pay me back! They don't have any numbers here in the U.S. that work. All the LAX numbers are full, or the persons say they are out of the office. I don't how they get any work done if they're all gone. ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY!!! They should have a slogan that says "Give Us YOU MONEY AND SHUT UP.

PLUS I found out they are on the Better Business BAD LIST. They need to be fined BIG time becasue they sure seem like crooks, or they just don't care about customer service.
