Surfing New Zealand??

Postby Crazy Carl » Fri Feb 27, 2004 8:10 am

Hey, I have never posted on this forum so I hope it all worked out. Anyways, I'm from Canada but i'm thinking of doing some studying in Canterbury, New Zealand. Does anyone know what the surfing scene is like there (does it even exist?). I've only tried surfing once, but if i'm gonna be in that part of the globe I want to make it a habit. Any info about surfing around Canterbury would be awesome. Thanx.

nz is an awesome place to go surfing (not that i'm biased or anything)
christchurch is a good place if you are just learning. also its only 2 hours from Kaikoura which is a pretty good break, but dangerous as hell if you can't really surf. dunedin area and the catlins also have some epic surf locations. its cold though, so invest in at least a 4/3 wettie!
