Surfing in California (Around Anaheim) In septemberish

hey,you mite of seen it in another post i made but in september im goin to claifornia and im wanting to try some surfing,maybe get a few lessons etc. does ne suggest a good beginners site around anaheim or california,

I would suggest Orange County - well anywhere south of Santa Monica.

Huntington Beach is a famous spot and I rented a board there in September - it was about 4-5 feet and excellent.

Be prepared for the water to be slightly colder than you think though!!

Also, have a credit card or someone with a credit card handy so that you can rent a slightly better board - I ended up having to rent a sponge board, 'cos I left my credit card in the hotel (1 hr up the coast!) if I'd taken it there was a gorgeous custom mini-mal for hire!

Yeah dude Orange Country is really good, i think san clemente has the best surf spots, but thats me, ENjOyYYyY!

Huntington beach has some good spots. Stay away from the pier the cliffs and river jetties they can get really localized. Bolsa Chica state beach is ok and even sunset is decent.

Dude definately checkout Doho as it's the bomb! They rack up the throwers all day long!

grew up in HB with my dad bein one of those known locals.. thats probably the worst beach for beginners. the locals know its turnin into a hot spot and most dont like it. if you decide to paddle out in hb, stay away from...well... everyone :^D

I don't know if this is too late, but you said you were coming September-ish, so. I would suggest going to San Onofre, It's near San Clemente, and you have to get there pretty early, or you won't be able to get in. The people there are usually very friendly, and it's pretty much a strictly surfing beach. People bring their families and dogs and stuff. Usually pretty mild surf, and good for learning. BRING BOOTIES, unless you're okay with walking on a bunch of rocks.

dude...huntington isn't that bad...the locals stay on the north side of the pier all morning but any other time and everywhere else you're good...i love surfing huntington...the waves there are alright for beginners though.

Definitely go to Seal Beach or Bolsa Chica. They got nice waves for beginners.

Try surfing Latigo up in LA. It's the Beach from Point Break the Movie, that or Malibu. Good begginer waves.
