Hawaii, or maybe bali?

Postby victorj » Wed Oct 26, 2005 2:24 pm

Hey. Me and my buddy will be heading out 1 -2 months for some surfing jan - feb 2006. Budget = 3000$ ish.
I thought I might draw upon some of the knowledge of the board members! =)

Plan for now = renting an appartement (if we can rent for 1 month) in waikiki/honolulu and car rental/hiking/bus to surf spots.
We've never surfed before, but we've been snowboarding a lot, so that might help a little =)

So:

1. Winter waves in hawaii too hard for 2 new guys?
2. Possible to rent appartement for 1 month on oahu?
3. Good oahu surf spots for beginners jan/feb?
4. What would 1 month of board rental cost us?
5. What would be a good alternative country/city for jan/feb surfing?

Thnks a lot guys, if u can help me with any one of theese =)

too many questions.
1. no, there is more than one shore. south is mostly flat in the winter.
2.i guess its possible, rent is about 500 a month for the cheapest thing you can get.
3. i suppose
4. forget renting a board. i would be cheaper to buy a used one and sell it later.
5. what? either youre in the city or youre in the country. there are no surf spots on mars. i dont understand... do you mean alternative to hawaii?

we have an ok bus system but the dont let you carry surfboards. you can rent the worst cars here for like 15 dollars a day. littke xxxxx cars they rent off in waikiki. lots of people rent mopeds.

Halloen

1. Yes and no...depends on where yhou go. The waves are little more up and down, but there are some nice Keiki breaks in Waikiki.. :-)
2. Yes, go to honoluluadvertiser.com or rentalsillustrated.com search for rentals in Waikiki...I think it'll be a little more than $500 though...but there are weekly and monthly rentals there..
3. Waikiki, Diamondhead or Ala Moana..there are so many spots on these beaches it'll drive you mad :-)
4. Buy used..sell...or pay out your ass for rental...
5 dunno.

Make sure you get the latest surf reports BEFORE you set out....
Uansett. Det er bra surf her nesten alltid.
