rockaway nyc - why is 90th st. better than 67/77th st?

Or, at least according to Surfline and a lot of the general consensus I've heard from local nyc surfers...

I haven't noticed too much of a difference, mostly b/c I just surf at 67th St. for the convenience of the A train. But I've surfed at 90th street more than few times and the main thing I've noticed is just the bigger crowd ...

It's the same beach just a mile away, facing the same way so the swell directions would all hit the same. I have to imagine wind would be the same as well.

Is it the bathymetry of the breaks at 67/77 vs 90th street? That's the only other thing I can think of. If so, can folks point me to resources that show how/why that is? I don't see bathymetry referenced often and I have no idea how I would read a map/chart of bathymetry info if I even saw one.

I surf both for years. 90th is a lot busier in terms of surfers in the water. All my friends go there because it's where the crowd hangs out. It's also a lot closer to where all the shops are.

67th is mainly for surfers and I love it. Slightly less crowded and you don't see like a million people sunbathing.

90th break can be a little better than 67th but each time the storm comes, it changes the sandbar. I would pick the less crowded surf spot on 67th any time. The worse thing with 90th is you popup on the peak and there is 10 other surfers dropping in on you and going straight towards the beach.
