Nica Waves - Surf Trip

Hi all,
looking for some guidance reg. surf in Nica.
Going for a week with my gf and looking for intermediate on the low end (no expert) waves.
Is it better to stay in the Playa Maderas (San Juan Del Sur) area or Popoyo/Playa Santana area.
