Warm water surfing in August

Postby wowowow » Sun Jul 22, 2018 3:53 pm

Hi everyone,
I put off my June trip as I couldn’t not decide on somewhere to go, and am now trying again

I am looking for somewhere to go in August-September, that has backpacking options, sunshine, and lots and lots of good surf. I have given up on finding my ideal location but it would be lovely if the water was 23 degrees+, light winds, and there was some sort of city/urbanisation (I’m going alone).

If anybody has any ideas, or opinions about the following places Ive been researching, I would really appreciate it!

- Bali
- Oahu
- Gold Coast
- Sayulita

Thanks so much in advance

Gold Coast, June Aussie winter, good south swell, warmer than the southern parts of Oz but can be cool, called the Gold Coast cause that’s what it will cost you and and all conurbation.
Bali millions visit and crowd the beaches and the few garbage cans, good surf though. warm. You might be held captive by erupting Mount Agung and don’t wear green board shorts while surfing!
Oahu have a good surfing act in your pocket repertoire, south swells warm, really mind your manners, and take a fat wallet!
What does your researching tell you? :D
BTW indecision will get you no where!

My research agrees with your reports:
Gold C- not really warm, expensive
Bali - crowded and more crowded
Hawaii - crowded and expensive!

Sayulita looks fun except for the raging mozzies and humidity.

To be fair, any one of them would probably be amazing, if I could just hurry up and decide

What's the story with green boardies in Bali??  q

Human sacrifice, the queen of the southern Ocean Nyah Loro Kidul takes young men as lovers to their death, if they wear green in the ocean, her love ensures drowning and the sacrifice ensures favourable seas, since the swell come from the Antarctic storms, pre forecasting their arrival time unknown.
Hotels have a room dedicated to her, failure to do this means a Tsunami will harm people who chose such an irresponsible hotel!
Make a decision, perfect surf, ideal location, no crowds urban location. Try a time machine set 50 years ago!
