Accomodation near Taghazout

Postby afgsurfer » Sun Nov 30, 2014 10:28 am

Hi all

I am an improving beginner and really excited to be going to Taghazout to surf from 11 Dec 2014 to 17 Jan 2015. It would be really great to get some advice on cheap accomodation. Since I know a little about surfing and am on a tight budget I was not looking at surf schools. So is it possible to rent an apartment/house near around that town? Or possibly share a room with people who will be there?

Also, would I need a wetsuit at that time of the year?

Can I buy a board from the local surf shops? and would that be more or less expensive than in London?

Any other gear I would need?

Thanks so much in advance for any advice and suggestions.

Hi, yes it is possible to rent an apartment in town. Will send you a link for some cheaper options and a travel guide I wrote after my trip.

You'll need a wetsuit yes. 2mm should do. The local surf shops aren't terribly great and the rental boards I saw were rather poor looking. For that reason, I would recommend a cheaper surf school who may have better boards and suits for you, possibly thrown in with the cost of your stay. You may want to wear little booties for urchins and/or mussels if you think you'll be able to go to more advanced breaks with complicated entries.

I understand you aren't interested in surf schools but you can get a bed, meal, kit and driven around to the best waves for you. It saves a lot of hassle. I recommend Moroccan Surf Adventures.

Bring a small medical kit, imodium and whatever else you think you'll need. Don't drink the tap water, drink bottled water.

Enjoy the trip!

Steph
