Just a comment here there are a number of surf camps in the Playgrounds area of the Mentawais.
They range from high level Camps ( more like resorts) Kandui , Kandui villas.
There are mid range camps Botik, Pitstop Hill and a couple of others, you can go further down the food chain to feral home stays. These are usually arranged by email to wherever and you have to arrange your own ferries across .
The bottom end is real adventure territory and probably has only the ability to access a few breaks.
The higher end places have high speed canoes and access at least 30 breaks.
Then there are the boat trips different breaks and skippers and who you are thrown together with.
Big journey to get there which ever way you go but worth it.
