Peniche here I come!

Postby BaNZ » Wed Oct 08, 2014 9:22 am

I've done a bit of research and there are so many spots in Baleal.

Supertubos - definitely no
Molhe leste and Lagido- lots of localism and some rocks / reefs. Lots of bodyboarders...
Baia / Cantinoho da baia - full of beginners from the surf schools.

Which doesn't leave me much choice. I'm not sure if I'm going to rent a car yet, but if I rent a car I'm hiring a longboard so shops needs to be nearby.

I'm probably going to live around the area of Molhe Leste or Baia. I'm more keen on surfing at Molhe Leste but I was thinking that Baia might be good even with all the beginners. As they will most likely be surfing on the white wash and not go out to the green waves?

I have no clue but tell John John Florence, and Freddie Patachia and Sebastian Zeitz I said "HOWZIT BRA!"
So what is worse.... dying or regretting it for the rest of my life? Obviously I chose not regretting it.

Finished my trip. OMS, I didn't see Kelly or John John. My gf almost got close to John John but was nearly killed by the stampede of young girls running towards him. The wave was very good and it was sunny.

So the spots, Baleal is nice place to surf with lots of surf camps. A bit crowded but if you just go early or on weekdays, it is fine.

Supertubos was actually surfable but I didn't want to take the risk. With 5-6 feet wave consistently but every 10 mins or so a big wave 10+ feet will come crashing in.

Locals are all very friendly, if you get in their way just apologise!

Peniche is fantastics, there are so many spots. You can choose beach break, point break, or reef breaks. Huge variety of swells to choose from. Walking 100m from one beach to another and you can choose 2-3 feet waves or 5-6 feet.

You do need a car to get around. It is a big place... locals will tell you that you can walk around the area. But do rent a car, it's a beautiful place.

Molho Leste is not the best place for beginners and longboarders. Baia and whole Baleal bay when its smaller. Lots of rrom even though there are many surf schools.
