february - Mexico vs Costa Rica vs Lanka

Postby ale k » Mon Jan 13, 2014 6:58 pm

Hi there,

I have about a week or 10 days in February to go somewhere in search of good surfing.

I'd say my level is "improver beginner".
I am able to catch waves, but must practice the take off and all the basic manouvers. I am goofy, but actually surfed right waves more often.

So, I am looking for a forgiving wave, not hollow, not so crowded and possibly left. Basically, I need to catch A LOT of waves....and if it's a left , i'd be even happier!

First of all, considering my level and the time of year, where would you go?

Also, surfing this forum and the web, I tried to point out a few places that can probably suit.
They all sound pretty cool and have their pros and cons, in terms of wave quality, spot variety, consistency, crowds, cost, etc.
Curious if anyone here spent time there and/or have an opinion about the following areas:
1) Mexico: Area of La Saladita, near Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo
2) Mexico: area of Punta Sayulita, near Puerto Vallarta
3) Costa Rica: Guanacaste, near Playa Grande / Nosara
4) Sri Lanka: from Hikkaduwa to Midigama/Mirissa

Thank you!! :)
ale k.

I know punta sayulita, it has mainly rights if I recall correctly. It's crowded and you have to watch out for Urchins.
