Assuming you mean Sydney...

All the beach breaks around Sydney are fine for beginners, but they tend to be crowded and can be a bit too steep for a newbie. Stick to smallish days and high tide and you'll be fine.

Away from the city, things improve. Hit Cronulla (the beaches... not the point) for a more forgiving wave and longer rides.
