Surfing in Lagos, Nigeria

Postby rezam » Mon Apr 25, 2011 6:41 am

Hi All,

I'm a beginner surfer just decided to excel the skill and the fun. :D :-)

The story begun when I got vacation back to my country Indonesia and get to Bali where I learned surfing for the first time..(I was thinking why I didnt start this long time ago...But you know, never too late to get some fun in your life.. :) .... )

Unfortunately, I'm about to leave my country and back to work in Lagos, Nigeria for another 11 weeks before rotation. Now, I'm pushing my self to get some informations what I can do so I wont loose my appetite in this sport... :?

Firstly, is there anyone here in the forum lives in Nigeria and do surfing? A website says some surf spots in Lagos and I found the chat records about surfing in these spots.

Secondly, I think it's difficult to buy/rent a board in Nigeria.. FYI, I searched for few days to find an ankle support for football.. As oppose to this, it's quite easier to find boards in Indonesia..The thing is, if I buy it in Indonesia and bring it to Nigeria, I'm pretty sure the local custom would get me to pay unrealistic fee for the board to enter the country. But, in the other hand, I'm not sure if I can get it in Nigeria.. Therefore, I need to know if someone has tried to bring the board to Nigeria or if I can get it somewhere around Lagos, Nigeria... :?

Thirdly, FYI, by googling the board that suite for beginner like me and my situation, I'm looking for an approx. 7' mini-mal. I'm 60kg weigh and 170cm tall. I would also need advices whether this would be good for me...

Thanks,
