Irish point breaks? NW specifically

Postby r896neo » Fri Jan 14, 2011 10:45 am

Hi, i'm a surfer from belfast and have been surfing up on the north coast for a few years. I only really managed to get up once or twice a month but i have a bit more time now and am keen to get up more often. I can competently catch most waves and get up down the line. However most of my rides are very short in the 5 secs area with a few at 10 seconds and a handful longer. This is proabably largely down to my low skills and not enough speed down the line but also the fact that i only surf the north coast beach breaks means lots of short close-outs which isn't helping.

My ideal wave for my current ability would be a slow moving point-break and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions of places on the north west coast that would be worth the trip?

Cheers

Not many 'slow moving' points to be found round here! There are a few more mellow ones round Claire way that are listed in stormrider

So best bet is to get practising :) To be fair if you start hitting more reefs in general you'll find you'll improve alot anyway.
