Hi

I'm organising a stag do for a mate and want to take him surfing to Biarritz in May. I've not been before but need some information on where to stay (camp) / go out etc for a group of guys aged 28-30.

We will need to hire surfing gear so would need to be fairly close to hire shops and a few of the guys would be beginners.

Whats the deal? Is Biarritz the best place to go for such a trip?

Are there good clubs / bars in the town?

cheers

Hi Grinch!

Are you still looking for info?

I have been going to this area for a few years now and used to go to 'Pavillon Royal' campsite in Bidart (www.pavillon-royal.com), a bit pricey but direct access to the beach, there is a surf school/hire shop on the beach too. More recently I have gone to St Jean de Luz, a few kms south, camped at 'Camping Iratzia', cheaper and a lot more friendly, you will need transport for the beaches though (there are one or two spots locally depending on conditions). As for night life, Biarritz has the usual French bars but I can't recall clubs (I'm an old git though!). Iratzia has a club less than a km away that is open till 5am and St Jean de Luz itself is a nice town at night.
