Outer Banks Info Needed!

Postby IDynamite » Sun May 02, 2010 7:35 am

Hey guys,

I'm trying to plan a trip to the outer banks in late May. I'm looking for some recommendations about lodgings and some spots to check out that time of year. I've surfed Wilmington but haven't really explored OBX yet so any help is appreciated!

how many people are you travelling with? that will really decide where you'll want to stay. and just keep an eye on the forecasts, hard to give you spots when there's 0 swell. like right now :(

better hurry. BP's oil slick my hit Miami and then NC's outer banks. Read it in the news tonight. Normally, the fishing is great so you wouldn't go hungry. However, am not sure how tastey a crude oil soaked perch is.

^ there was a thing in the virginia pilot the other day about the oil. it's possible some will end up in the gulf stream, but for the most part, it most likely won't end up on the beaches. we'll have to see what happens with the winds and everything to see what will really happen. you would think they could set up a barrier by the keys or something to keep it from spreading out of the gulf...

"Yes, but they won't think of it," cynical billie replies.

its funny you guys mentioned the oil. when i got back and showered at home up in Jerz my hair felt like i just put gel in it. kinda gnarly.

Camped at Frisco campgrounds and surfed there at Frisco pier. Wind was ALL over it for the first few days but it cleaned up and was barreling! Love it down there, definitely going back ASAP.
