Florianopolis for New Years Eve?

I have been reading on the internet about hotels and surf resorts and this and that but i was wishing you guys could maybe help me with an unbiased opinion.
To be honest i want to surf all week in the mourning and grill fresh food for diner then experience the nightlife that time of year and party it up on new years eve down there. I haven't been on vacation in almost 5 years (since I graduated Highschool) and i feel as though i owe it to myself for a GREAT time.

Any advise or maybe some suggestions of other places to go?
