Hey there,

Firs tthings first.. where are you travelling from. I'm assuming UK

Swells are more consistent then the UK over July/Aug from the Bay of Biscay and South. So Southern France, Spin, Protugl, Morrocco.
Canaries are good yes but mostly volcanic Reef. not the best destination for beginners however there re some spots on each island that are sand/shorebreak. they just arn't that consistent.

General rule of Thumb, west facing will pick up swell. now destination wise there ar so many within each country/region with breks to suit all.
Cnt go wrong with France (unless. like me your unlucky with swell when you go!) Bet bet to suit the whole family is Anglet or ny of the costa ltowns to the north.
Portugal has some hefty breaks but lso has the tmer ones to match
Spin is the same and s is Morrocco
Cnries wise. Lanza hs some stonking breaks and the general tourist traps to match, sme for Grand Canria. Fuert is little less developed tourist wise but IMO the best destination of all the islands.

Pick a place on the west coast and you cant go wrong really!

with the exchange rate and looking for something for everyone, then go to San Diego! You can find great vacation rentals on Craigs List. You won't have to stay in a hotel and there are at least 109 surf breaks in San Diego. Oh, and it is warm in the Summer
