New Board Selection

Postby surf3 » Wed Apr 30, 2008 2:24 am

Hi all,
I am originally an east coast surfer. Been surfing for about 10 years now since i was really young. I short boarded for about 6 years, then got sick of it due to small east waves. Bought myself a nice Walden 9'6" magic model longboard. Can nose ride, drop knee turn easily.

Question: I am moving to California for good, to the LA area. Gonna take my trusty longboard, but wanna buy a new shortboard. What size/type does everyone recommend for out there. I am 6'1" and about 190lbs. Let me know what you think.

thanks

Iwould say from 6'8" to mid 7's depending how hard you want to work. Also the "fish" shape is popular which is wider and thicker so you can go a little shorter. I wouldn't rush, go into local shops get other opinions.

Every little detail in design will effect performance you can adjust your style to fit most boards or select a board to fit your style.
