ok i was thinking i wanna go shorter cause i currently ride 7'6 nev 21 1/2 x 2 3/4 but it doesnt go fast enough for me and i was thinking 6'2 to around 6'10. I started surfing a while ago,i have the hang of it but im still the begginer type. if i wanna go shorter, what dimensions???

I'm 13,5'3 and I weigh around 120lbs

does 6'10 duck-dive well?
how good are 6'10s?

THANKS
~Carly

Bigger the board harder it will be to duck dive due to increased bouyancy.
Something in the 6 ft range is probably right for you in 1-2 m surf, you need to take into account width and thickness too, these are factors that a lot of people forget. The shorter the board the thicker or wider you might want to go to keep up bouyancy when paddaling.

Hope it helps.

Ozzie ;-)

Sorry I took soooo long to reply, been away for a few days.

Yeah, the measurments you give there should give you a nice shorter board which you will find wa more manouvarable but there is plenty of width and thikness for stability and bouyancy for easy paddaling and wavw catching.

Ozzie.

Hi blinxgirl,

I'm 5' 9" and 9.5 stone. Dropped from a 7' 3" to a 6' 10" x 19.5 " x 2 5/8" and although I love the board (I can catch any wave on it). I think it's a bit too thick for me. Also it's very hard to duck dive properly with it.

As I said, I love the board, and wouldn't dream of selling it but I'm already thinking of what size I'll get next. :D

If I were you I'd borrow a few boards and figure out what width & how thick you're gonna go.

Good luck

the people here are so nice and willing to help!at surfermag if your a begginer you're attomaticly a troll.whatever that is.

I was thinking really short like 5'10 or 6'2 with those dimesions.
19 and 2 or 2.5 inches thick.

When your coming down from such a big length I think that may be too big a drop. -As I mentioned already I dropped down from a 7' 3" which is a good bit smaller than your current board. I don't think I'd have been able to manage a 6' 2" let alone a 5' 10" (although I'm taller).

I'd drop down more gradually. If you make that big a drop it will take much longer to get used to it.

That's just my opinion though!
