help in picking out my first board

Hi all, I've only gone surfing a couple times on rented foam boards and I'm thinking in the long run it will be cheaper just to buy a board now and learn off of it instead of always renting. I eventually want a shortboard but I'm currently looking at a new 8'2" (22" wide, 2 7/8" thick) mini longboard (BLUE by Global Surf Industries) and I was wondering if it would be an easy transition (from mini-longboard to shortboard) or if I should get something more shortboardy but still big and thick? Is it just me or is it really really hard to find used boards around this size? Also, is $375 a fair price for this board? What would be the potential resale value if I don't screw it up too badly? This is a link to the board I'm considering globalsurfindustries.com/products/blue.html

Thanks a lot.

Hi,
Yes that board would be great to learn on, no matter how long you surf for you will never sell it. If you get good you will keep it for the little days and if you learn and just have fun you will keep it because it is a really fun board. I know a lot of stores that sell GSI boards they are good quality and that is a really good price.

Have fun buying your first board will change your life, I hope your ready for that. Congrats....

I agree, that board looks great - you could consider something a little shorter - the 7ft 10 maybe? But I don't think it will make that much difference.

It looks all good and like Surf Rider says, you probably won't ever sell it. Buy it, buy it now!!

Woo hoo
