hey i am new to the forum. . . i have been surfing for a while and i have a 7'0 funshape. My brother has a 6'2 thin shortboard but i am kinda wobbly on it and want a new board... what should i go with? a fish? just a little longer shortboard?

Going from a funboard to a shortboard, you lose not only the length but more importantly the volume.

So 7' fun to 6'2 short is quite a big drop.
So maybe look for something like 6'6 and get something thats not too thin - 2 1/2 inches maybe.

Also, see if you can give a fish a go - many people wobble on them a lot more than a shortboard, but some people get to grips with them a lot better because of the increased width/volume. But the only way to find out is to try!
:D

you never said your height and weight- it really makes a difference. between two summers (I dont surf much of the winters, sadly) I was fitting my shortboard perfectly, or pretty close, and the next summer, a couple of inches taller and I racked a bit of muscle from lifting all winter(maybe a couple of lard on there too) and then I couldn't surf it worth crap.

I say go with a wider shortboard. do a search on here- there's lots of stuff about switching to a shortboard...
