Well how far are you on your own ability. I've been surfing for a year and I have a funboard. It really depends on what you want. I would say a shortboard if you really want it but as for easy abilities I guess a funboard would be the choice.

P>S ypu dont need this in every subject.

i say go for a funboard but not nsp etc. ive been surfin 2 n a half, nearly three years now and im not too bad now. i was on a bic 6'7 shortboard for most of it i just got a 6'8 funboard second hand and it rocks so much better than the bic so go for the funboard i say n guage the dimentions of it to your ability

i think most brands do funboards. to be honest i'd stay away from popouts because theyre not the best. you should possibly go and have a chat to a shaper if youve got the money. if its your fisrt board a popout could be ok but youll grow out of it quickly. thats just my 2p anyways

You should look around your local surfing shops, I bought my 6"10 funboard in mine for £350 for a custom board - and its amazing. I had wanted this board for so long knowing it was the one for me. Just love the dimensions of it and how it performs - should last me a good few years.

read what i wrote in surf chat

Thanks for the advise, but what exactly is a pop out? and I want an NSP as it is very durable and cheap. I dont own the bic mini mal which is why i am getting a new board, I jst rent out the bic when i surf (i only go once a week or every two weeks as i live a good bit from the coast) Do u know if their is much difference between bics and nsps?

A popout board is mass produced on a production line, they use foam covered in fibreglass to make it indistructable. The board is heavier than cusom made boards - its mainly created for beginners as they float better and can take a good beating.
A custom board is made of fibreglass which makes it a lot lighter and faster but it will ding easier.
The bics and nsps are pretty much the same if you ask me, I wouldnt think theres much difference between them.
