2+1 fin size

Hey guys,

I need to replace my side fins, one snapped off in a wipeout. I currently have an 8.25in centre fin and 4.5in side fins (G5). The board is high volume longboard 9ft, 23, 3.25. (thick rails) I'm 5.7 & 68kg.

I would say I'm at early intermediate ability. I think I would like an all rounder capability, stability plus turning.

So what do you recommend re fin sizes? I think my side fins might be a bit big? Is my centre fin ok at 8.25?

Ok thanks

FCS G5's are way too big as "sidebites". I would go with FCS GX sidebites.

As for the center fin, you also need to consider the base, rake and overall surface area, and not only the height.

Yeah I figured they were too big....ha, Ok GX sounds good I'll hunt some down. thanks heaps

Centre fin is 'normal' shape lol..... I don't know what they're called. It's not thick, not thin. Tried to attach photo, but not sure it's working.

We’re you running that center fin all the way back in the box while using the G5s ?

No it was in the middle. The board just came back from repair of the rail damage and I also noticed it was back in the box. It's a bit loose, have to tighten it up. I will move it back to the middle. I could also try it as a single fin I suppose for laughs. However I sometimes have my dog on the front and he's 17kg so probably need stability. lol......hmmm maybe a single would work well in that case?.....
