I am 5'10 and 155lbs. think i'll be able to duck dive with a 6'8-20"-2.25" board?

Also do you think switching from a 6'10-20.25-2.75 board to a 6'1 merrick shortboard is too much of a jump? How much of a difference does it make.

Thanks!

And I´m 1,82cm (dunno in inches) and 70kg, should I start with an 6.5 or 6.6?

If you're just starting, you probably wouldn't notice the inch difference in length. It's the width/ thickness that will count.

Agree completely but will go a bit further and say that you won't notice the difference as a beginner... basically the length aids paddling speed, width stability and thickness buoyancy... putting various combinations together changes the entire feel of the board that a beginner just wont respect... If you have a choice always go for the bigger as a beginner.

Thanks guys.

Looks like it wont matter much anyway. I´ve talked to diferent people and they all recomended me something between 6.3 and 6.8. I guess Ill go with an 6.4 or something of the like.

But after watching the movie Singlefin yellow, where a guy uses a 9.6, I wonder if those inches really do matter...
