Board Choice for Poor Conditions

Postby itis_luca » Tue Aug 17, 2021 9:51 am

Hey Everybody,

I will be moving to the Netherlands soon, and while its generally just short period mushy waves caused by wind swells, I am still excited to finally be able to surf where I live! I would say I am at an intermediate stage, where I can consistently catch waves and do some very mellow turns.

The last board I used was a 7'10 funboard with 56l, which was great in better waves. In order to both have fun but also progress, what board would make the most sense? I have a hard time figuring out the tradeoff between having a thicker, shorter board vs a longer, thinner board in weaker conditions - there are softtops like the Odysea Skipper 6'6 that have the same volume as the 7'10 epoxy board I used...

Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated :)
