What board is this?

Postby kevthekook » Mon Apr 26, 2021 6:04 pm

Hello, I've been surfing for a about a year now and I'm feeling ready to graduate from my 8 ft foamie. I went surfing in costa rica over the winter and rented several different boards but enjoyed this one the most. I had a ton of fun with it, actually learned how to go down the line on it. It struck a nice balance between maneuverability and manageability. I'm about 6ft tall so that board looks like its 6'10 -7'1 and its a fish ??? I THNK???. I liked it because it was easy to catch smaller waves but I was still able to duck-dive it when needed. Plus, I drive a civic so I'd like something I can shove in my cabin. Any ideas on what board that is or similar suggestions. Google gave me some ideas but nothing concrete. Thanks!

PS: I know everyone get's off to recommending longboards on these forums but rest assured I had MORE FUN on this board than any other board! I've tried everything from 9 ft longboards to 5'6 shortboards and this is what I decided on. Thanks again!

welcome and hey if it is working. for you that size of board is great.
It is an older model Surftech board logo and label , epoxy EPS foam all good very similar to one of their models I rode for years

You might find Hayden shapes Hypto Krypto Epoxy in the Surftech range or Torq mod fish interesting. :D
I've taken up troll hunting just for fun, instead of a rifle I'll just use a pun! 冲浪爷爷

Try looking up: Randy French Soul Fish 6'10"

I had the same board in 5'6" and 6'0". Really fun board especially if you put the Futures CH 450 hatchet trailer fin.

It was a thruster 3 fin, not a quad 4 fin right ?

Thanks for the help guys, it's very much appreciated!! I'll be checking all those suggestion out as summer quickly approaches :D You're correct, it was a 3 fin. As a beginner, I haven't worried too much about those smaller details, but maybe I should? I mostly surf 2-4 ft. stuff so I can get lots of practice with the basics. What sort of fins would be ideal for those conditions? Appreciate it :D

Should be equipped for Futures Fins, so just go with the standard "F4" fins in thermotech for now. But I do believe it came stock with the "T1" fins which has taller sides and a smaller center.
