Surfboard size for intermediate

Postby Mayid » Sun Apr 18, 2021 7:28 am

Hello!
I'm planning to buy a surfboard. I have an intermediate level and surf in Barcelona (up to 2m waves) and Portugal. I'm 6,1feet tall and 78kg. I like the firewire seaside. However I was planning a 6,1 6,2 feet surfboard and for that size the volume seems to high (around 45 litres). I was planning more like 39litres.
I like to libtech lost paddle jumper as well, but get the same problem.
Any advice?
Thanks!

Really you need to is how the board performs for you, don‘t get stuck on volume metrics too, much.
How will the board paddle and assist you doing what you can do already and beyond!
What are your thoughts as to why those boards may suit?

I know some of the surf shops do allow you to try some of their range or hire them for a day.
Why not do that , check your belief about volume against performance before you splash big cash! :D

If you want the Seaside to be around 39 litres, then you need to go with their 5'10".

Question, what size / type board is your everyday "Go-To" board ? Usually if it's a 6'2", you can usually ride a fish shape 3-4 inches shorter, so a 5'10" shouldn't be a problem for a Intermediate surfer.

Jaffa. That's a good idea. I think in Barcelona they just have cheap boards for renting, but I'll check. I thought about those boards after seing reviews. I wanted something with stabiltity for the transition to shorter boards and make it easier to turn with the board.

waikikikichan, I used to get boards around 6,5ft

Thanks!!
